Tactical Preview - Manchester United v Arsenal: Powered By Globall Coach v4!

Using the brand new Globall Coach v4 software, we will look ahead to the midweek Premier League encounter at Old Trafford between Manchester United and Arsenal, looking at their predicted line ups, the tactics they can be expected to play and who the key players might be expected to be.

Looking at the visitors, they have been adaptable this season so far, using different formations at different times but maintained the consistency which eluded them a little in the latter stages of the Arsene Wenger reign.

More recently, they have been playing a three at the back system, which we think may be employed again for their trip to Manchester United to try and combat the attacking three of the Red Devils: Lukaku, Rashford and Martial.

Arsenal’s full backs like to get forward, so in a more wing back position, this allows this more comfortably with protection in the holding midfield position provided by Torreira and Guendouzi.

Torreira, in particular, will be the player who will look to break down United’s attacking breaks, and stop the ball going forward into the front three if possible.

And when he wins possession back, he will look to get Arsenal on the front foot themselves, as shown in this Globall Coach version 4 animation below.

United have injury and suspension problems, particularly in defence. This means we think they will go with a more defensive approach in their midfield to give added protection to what is likely to be a makeshift back line.

They will be dangerous on the counter attack with the pace of Rashford and Martial a cause for concern to most defences in the Premier League.

Using Globall Coach version 4 as a super visual tactics board, the video below shows Ciaran and Paul discussing some more of the tactics we should expect from the game.

So it should be an interesting game, and a good chance for Arsenal to try and take advantage of United’s defensive problems to achieve their first league win at Old Trafford since 2006.
