England's Tactical Approach vs USA
Using Globall Coach version 4 (soon to be released), we go through a couple of features of the tactical approach by England for their international friendly against USA at Wembley Stadium.
Gareth Southgate lined his team up in a 4-3-3 formation with a defensive midfield pivot in Fabian Delph to allow Harry Winks and Dele Alli to affect things further forward while youngster Jadon Sancho made his full debut in attack alongside fellow debutant Callum Wilson.
Here is an animation to show some of the tactical features.
As you can see from the animation, there is a certain amount of flexibility within the formation.
In the midfield, Winks and Delph could switch over with both comfortable in both a defensive role as well as further up the field.
In attack, they had Callum Wilson leading the line centrally, with both of the wide forwards coming inside to support. Lingard, in particular, drifted infield, while Sancho is right footed playing on the left, so is more inclined to cut inside onto his stronger foot.
That allowed the full backs to get forward to good effect, with Chilwell and Alexander-Arnold both making key actions which led to England goals.
