The Rise Of Jadon Sancho

Ex-Manchester City youth player Jadon Sancho has recently signed a contract extension with Borussia Dortmund having impressed at first team level. The English winger has featured in all of Dortmund’s six games in the Bundesliga and has scored one goal and assisted five times.

Sancho moved from Man City in August 2017, and within two months of joining Dortmund, Sancho played his first game making him the club’s first Englishman to play in the Bundesliga.

Looking at his accomplishments, it's clear to see why a team like Dortmund wanted him:

- 1 x FIFA Under-17 World Cup winner

- 1 x UEFA European Under-17 Championship Golden Player, an award previously won by the likes of Wayne Rooney, Toni Kroos, Mario Gotze and Cesc Fabregas.

Two of his key attributes have been key to his success at Dortmund, as he demonstrated in a recent game against Bayer Leverkusen. He is quick and travels well with the ball, which allows Dortmund to turn defence into attack in a flash, with other quick attacking players such as Marco Reus supporting this. Below, we have demonstrated this with his two assists from that match using Globall Coach.

The London-born winger scored 14 goals in 18 games for England Under-17s and now has a call up to the Under-21 squad.

Sancho joined Watford at the age of seven and left in March 2015, moving to Manchester City. Sancho continued to impress in the Academy system at City before gaining his first team bow in Germany. Whatever the future holds for Sancho it seems to be positive.
